WHO, UNICEF issue new guidance to promote breastfeeding in health facilities globally

WHO and UNICEF has issued new ten-step guidance to increase support for breastfeeding in health facilities that provide maternity and newborn services. Breastfeeding all babies for the first 2 years would save the lives of more than 820 000 children under age 5 annually. The Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding underpin the Baby-friendly Hospital Initiative, which both organizations launched in 1991. The practical guidance encourages new mothers to breastfeed and informs health workers how best to support breastfeeding. Breastfeeding is vital to a child’s lifelong health, and reduces costs for health facilities, families, and governments. Breastfeeding within the first hour of birth protects newborn babies from infections and saves lives. Infants are at greater risk of death due to diarrhoea and other infections when they are only partially breastfed or not breastfed at all. Data Abuse Bounty: Facebook rewards for reports of data abuse

Facebook has launched the  Data Abuse Bounty  to reward people who report any misuse of data by app developers. Facebook committed to launching this program a  few weeks ago  as part of its efforts to quickly uncover potential abuse of people’s information. The Data Abuse Bounty, inspired by the  existing bug bounty program  which Facebook uses to uncover and address security issues, will help the company identify violations of its  policies . According to  Collin Greene ,  Head of Product Security , Facebook, “W e’ll review all legitimate reports and respond as quickly as possible when we identify a credible threat to people’s information. If we confirm data abuse, we will shut down the offending app and take legal action against the company selling or buying the data, if necessary. Nearly one billion people in Africa to be protected against Yellow fever by 2026

 Dr  Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General Nearly one billion people will be vaccinated against yellow fever in 27 high-risk African countries by 2026 with support from WHO, Gavi – the Vaccine Alliance, UNICEF and more than 50 health partners. The commitment is part of the Eliminate Yellow fever Epidemics (EYE) in Africa strategy, which was launched by Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General, Professor Isaac Folorunso Adewole, Nigeria’s Minister of Health and partners at a regional meeting in Abuja, Nigeria on Tuesday (10 April). "The world is facing an increased risk of Yellow fever outbreaks and Africa is particularly vulnerable," said Dr Tedros. "With one injection we can protect a person for life against this dangerous pathogen. This unprecedented commitment by countries will ensure that by 2026 Africa is free of Yellow fever epidemics." Etihad Aviation Group Supports World Autism Awareness Month

  Etihad Aviation Group, in cooperation with Emirates Autism Society,  supported World Autism Awareness Month by  organising a series of events and activities during the first week of April. Highlighting the need for increased awareness and understanding of autism, Etihad hosted an awareness workshop at its Training Academy. The workshop featured an informative presentation by Sheena Kathleen Reynolds, an Occupational Therapist from the Wilson Centre for Child Development. A  short documentary named “ Lemonade”   was also broadcast to the audience. The documentary highlighted the difficulties, hopes and aspirations of families of autistic adults. An exclusive innovation gallery of artwork and robots crafted by individuals with autism was also held in conjunction with the staff event. Facebook announces changes to make Ads, Pages more transparent

Facebook has announced that changes are being made to the way Ads and Pages are managed on its platform and on Instagram. These changes are designed to increase transparency and accountability as well as prevent election interference. In a statement release by  Rob Goldman , VP, Ads and  Alex Himel , VP, Local & Pages today, “We believe that when you visit a Page or see an ad on Facebook it should be clear who it’s coming from.
